Healthcare is evolving rapidly. Across the country, smaller hospitals are struggling to meet rising clinical demands, often putting access to care at risk. In New Hampshire, HCA Healthcare is taking a different path—making significant, long-term investments to strengthen care delivery and support healthier communities.
Earlier this year, Catholic Medical Center in Manchester joined the HCA Healthcare family, alongside Portsmouth Regional Hospital, Parkland Medical Center, Frisbie Memorial Hospital, three freestanding emergency rooms, and more than 70 additional sites of care. Across the state, we now employ nearly 5,000 dedicated professionals—including more than 1,300 nurses—delivering exceptional care close to home.
Our presence in New Hampshire spans more than four decades. In the past 10 years alone, we’ve invested more than $268 million across our hospitals, with plans to invest another $200 million in CMC over the next decade. These investments translate directly into access to advanced services—such as cardiovascular, stroke, trauma, and behavioral health care.
While our greatest impact will always be measured by the lives we touch and the care we provide, we also recognize the importance of our economic contributions to the state. In 2024, HCA Healthcare paid $43.2 million in state and local taxes, supporting essential public services throughout New Hampshire. Additionally, we delivered $20.7 million in charity and uncompensated care, ensuring that patients receive treatment regardless of their ability to pay.
At HCA Healthcare, we are driven by our mission of, “Above all else, we are committed to the care and improvement of human life.” Our mission is at the center of everything we do—whether it’s expanding hospital services or responding to unmet needs in the community.
For example, we recently opened a new outpatient behavioral health clinic in Gilford to extend Frisbie’s services into the Lakes Region. Through this and our other Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP), we provide patients with support and strategies to manage stress, anxiety, depression and other mental health programs, and also serve as an access point should our PHP patients require more focused care, such as inpatient behavioral health services.
Frisbie Memorial Hospital also earned its first Primary Stroke Center designation; opened an acute inpatient rehabilitation unit to meet the state’s need for rehab services; and launched a Total Joint Replacement surgery program.
These are just a few examples of how we respond to growing demand and make care more accessible across the state.
Our commitment also extends beyond hospital walls. Through charitable giving, food bank partnerships, drug take-back programs, and thousands of volunteer hours, we work to strengthen the communities we call home.
Our doctors and nurses are your neighbors. Our patients are your families. And our hospitals are anchor institutions in the communities they serve. In a time of change and uncertainty in healthcare, HCA Healthcare remains focused on what matters most: people and high-quality patient care.
Together, we are building a healthier, stronger New Hampshire—one investment, one patient, and one community at a time.
