One of the biggest stories in New Hampshire politics was buried in the real estate listings in Concord.

According to published records, there was a $1,000,733 property purchase on May 9 in Concord’s tony West End by Margaret Goodlander and Jacob Sullivan.

That’s Second Congressional District Congresswoman Goodlander and President Joe Biden’s National Security Advisor Sullivan.

After years of living in the Washington, D.C., suburbs and the beautiful seacoast city of Portsmouth — and a brief stint claiming a modest Nashua apartment as their legal voting residence — it appears the congresswoman and her husband are finally moving into the district she represents.

According to published real estate records, Maggie Goodlander and Jake Sullivan purchased this Concord, N.H., home in May 2025.

“Quite an upgrade for a Nashua ‘renter,'” one Democratic activist quipped on background.

The move should put an end to the ongoing speculation about Goodlander and Sullivan living in Portsmouth while voting in Nashua, a speculation that received another boost late last week when Sullivan appeared on a video podcast, clearly not sitting in the living room of his one-bedroom urban Nashua apartment.

Sullivan also made news in the podcast interview by claiming he never saw President Joe Biden suffer a mental lapse as president — a claim that runs counter to multiple press reports in newly-released books — not to mention what voters told pollsters they saw when Biden appeared in public.

“I sat in the Situation Room and I watched the president act as commander in chief. And I saw that from the first day to the last day,” Sullivan claimed.

“I was mercifully insulated as national security adviser from politics to the point where I was even insulated from my wife’s campaign when she was running for Congress at the time,” Sullivan added. “To me, though, the question of was the president effectively operating as the commander in chief, executing in crisis. Executing strategy, I watched him do that, really, all four years of the Biden administration.”

But the new book “Original Sin” reports that during one moment of high tension, Biden repeatedly referred to Jake Sullivan as “Steve.” A foreign-policy meeting involving Biden and Sullivan was described by participants as a “s***show” due to Biden’s lack of mental acuity.

And polls show some 70 percent of Americans don’t believe Biden is fit to serve as president, and the campaign has done nothing to persuade voters to reconsider their view of the former president.

For weeks, Goodlander has declined to answer NHJ0urnal’s questions about her legal residence. Now the residency issue may have finally been put to bed — though there are still potential controversies.

For example, Goodlander’s new place is right around the corner from Colin Van Ostern’s house. Goodlander came out of nowhere in 2024 to move into the 2nd CD (where Colin Van Ostern was already campaigning ) just a few months before the primary to defeat loyal, local Democratic politician Van Ostern.

Now she’ll be living close enough to Van Ostern to ask him if she can borrow a cup of sugar.

Goodlander and Sullivan have already been spotted in the popular Concord restaurant Revival Kitchen and Bar. It may be a sign that this affluent corner of Concord, once known as “Mortgage Hill,” may be enough to finally lure New Hampshire’s top “power couple” to the Second Congressional District.
