New Hampshire’s recent local elections have illuminated the path to a brighter future for our beloved state. With victories in Manchester, Nashua, and Berlin, New Hampshire Republicans have showcased their dedication and commitment to serving our communities.
Our triumphs in Manchester Wards 1, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12, as well as Mayor-elect Jay Ruais’ victory in the mayor’s race, speak volumes about the trust voters have placed in local candidates that focused on the issues and didn’t allow their message to get co-opted by external forces. To the residents of Manchester, I extend my heartfelt congratulations and assure you the common sense leadership team you just elected will lead with your best interests at heart.
The new Board of Mayor and Alderman that will have Chris Morgan, Crissy Kantor, Ross Terrio, Ed Sapienza, Norm Vincent, Kelly Thomas, and Joe Kelly Levasseur serving with Mayor-elect Ruais will start to govern and deliver on their campaign to shake up the status quo in Manchester. The future for Manchester is bright with these leaders at the helm.
Our additional advances in Nashua and Berlin further solidify the momentum of the Republican party led by candidates of quality. In Nashua, Republican candidates topped the ballot in Wards 1, 5, 6, and 7, a testament to the dedication and hard work of Mayoral Candidate Mike Soucy and Republican candidates like Tyler Gouveia, Chris Thibodeau, and Paula Johnson who were successful in their campaigns. In Berlin, Republicans also emerged victorious in the Mayoral race, echoing our commitment to governance that puts people first with grassroots candidate Robert Cone ousting a longtime incumbent Mayor and Steve Korzen elected to the City Council.
Building upon these successes opens the path to Republicans securing 240 seats in the New Hampshire House next fall. It is a task we can absolutely achieve, but only if we take in our lessons from this past Tuesday and build on Republican successes locally in New Hampshire for state offices one year from now. A candidate for office cannot control the environment surrounding the race; we cannot control or determine our opponents’ message, organization, or strategy.
The one resource both candidates have an equal amount of before a campaign starts is time – using yours effectively and efficiently is the best way to set yourself up for success. Mayor-Elect Jay Ruais knocked on over 40,000 doors and raised substantial funds in order to power his victory this past Tuesday – Republican candidates throughout New Hampshire and the nation would be wise to follow his example and apply it to their own campaigns going forward. Doors win elections.
To accomplish our ambitious goal of electing 240 New Hampshire House Republicans, we must focus on recruiting candidates who are not only hardworking but also deeply connected to their constituents and communities. Mayor-Elect Jay Ruais’ successful campaign in Manchester makes it clear: voters reward the candidates who put in the work and present their authentic selves. Our Republican candidates will have to engage with their communities, knock on doors, and raise funds for essential voter contact efforts.
Our vision for New Hampshire puts people first and revolves around limited government, individual liberty, and fiscal responsibility. With each election victory, we move one step closer to realizing this vision.
