The National Republican Congressional Committee is targeting vulnerable Democrat Rep. Chris Pappas over the issue of energy and home heating costs in the Granite State.
The NRCC is buying billboards and running ads on WMUR-TV to make its point.
“Thanks to Democrats’ reckless spending, New Hampshire residents are seeing rising costs everywhere – including a 43 percent increase for heating oil users this winter,” the NRCC claims.
Pappas has been a supporter of the Biden administration’s energy policies, including shutting down the Keystone XL pipeline on its first day in the White House and issuing restrictions on new energy production.
Pappas also voted for $7.5 billion in electric vehicle subsidies, despite the fact there are virtually no EVs in New Hampshire and the money goes overwhelmingly to affluent taxpayers on the West Coast.
The same with the federal taxpayer subsidies in the “Build Back Better” bill backed by the four members of the New Hampshire delegation. According to a study by the University of Chicago since 2006, 60 percent of the federal income tax credits for weatherizing homes, installing solar panels, buying hybrid and electric vehicles, etc. have gone to the wealthiest Americans.
The bottom 60 percent of income earners got just 10 percent of the benefits.

Pappas also helped pass a controversial “vehicle mileage tax” program. The pilot project’s objectives, according to the legislation, are to “test the design, acceptance, implementation, and financial sustainability of a national motor vehicle per-mile user fee” and “address the need for additional revenues for surface transportation infrastructure.”
“Granite Staters have been left in the cold this winter because Chris Pappas always puts Nancy Pelosi’s socialist agenda first,” said NRCC spokeswoman Samantha Bullock.
