Jindal to return to NH in September to keynote Seacoast GOP event

CONCORD — Potential Republican 2016 presidential candidate and Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal will return to leadoff presidential primary state New Hampshire in September.

The New Hampshire Journal has learned that Jindal Monday confirmed an appearance as the featured speaker at the Seacoast Republican Women’s Club’s annual Chilifest at former New Hampshire House speaker Doug Scamman and former Rep. Stella Scamman’s “Bittersweet Farm” in Stratham.

Their farm is a regular venue for key Republican events, most recently hosting 2012 presidential nominee Mitt Romney’s endorsement of former Sen. Scott Brown’s U.S. Senate candidacy on July 2. The women’s club Chilifest is always a key event on the GOP calendar.

Jindal in March launched a political action committee called “Stand Up to Washington,” aimed at helping conservative candidates in the 2014 elections and possibly also to lay the groundwork for a presidential run.

The executive director is Jill Neunaber, who is familiar to New Hampshire Republicans as the former deputy state campaign director of Romney’s 2012 presidential campaign and the political director of former Manchester attorney Ovide Lamontagne’s 2010 campaign for the U.S. Senate.

Jindal was in the state in March to keynote the Northeast Republican Leadership Conference hosted by the state Republican Party. He also attended the PLUS Company’s Wild Irish Breakfast during that visit.

He also keynoted a fundraiser for state Senate Republicans in 2013.
