In lay terms; they ain’t printin’ the stuff to stare at. Likewise, if they don’t tax the HE double hockey-sticks out of us to “sop-up” the excess liquidity then it’s Weimar Republic all over again. In short, the Fed determines monetary policy, the pres just has to sell it.
