Earlier this week, former Congresswoman and 1st District Democratic candidate Carol Shea-Porter sent an email to her supporter list that was ostensibly from Massachusetts Congressman Barney Frank, known for his pugnacious personality and extreme liberalism. The email asked supporters to donate $10,000 before midnight on Tuesday.
Given New Hampshire’s somewhat less liberal profile when compared to the Bay State, Shea-Porter’s opponent Fran Guinta seized on the email to do some fundraising of his own, emailing his supporters, “Massachusetts liberals such as Rep. Barney Frank have long tried to influence New Hampshire elections. And it’s no secret that ultra-progressives in the Granite State such as Congresswoman Shea-Porter have greatly benefited from their hope in turning New Hampshire just as blue as their own state.”
Shea-Porter didn’t back down, firing back to her list that Guinta “has decided to insult Barney Frank, me, and you,” and continuing, “Help make Frank Guinta’s worst fears come true. Help turn the NH-01 seat blue again.”
Approximately 29 percent of New Hampshire voters are registered Democrats, as opposed to 35.9 percent in Massachusetts.
